Clonard Monastery is one of Belfast’s most well-known Catholic churches and has played an important role in the spiritual and community life of West Belfast for more than a century.
Built by the Redemptorist Order in the late 19th century, the monastery has long been a place of worship, pilgrimage, and pastoral care. Beyond its religious role, Clonard has also become closely associated with peacebuilding and dialogue during some of the most difficult periods of Northern Ireland’s history.
Today, the monastery remains an active place of prayer and reflection while continuing to welcome visitors from across Belfast and beyond.
