Newtownbreda Presbyterian Church, also known as St John's, has served the people of South Belfast for more than 180 years. Founded in 1842, the congregation has grown alongside the surrounding community, adapting to the changing needs of Belfast while remaining rooted in the Presbyterian tradition. The present Gothic-style church building, completed in 1892, remains a prominent local landmark.
Today, St John's describes its mission through three simple themes: Looking Up, Leaning In, and Reaching Out. These values reflect its commitment to worshipping God, building authentic community, and serving the wider city. The church welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds and offers opportunities for worship, learning, creativity, and community life
